Innovative ideas for a variety of social issues
The jury, led by Barbara Baarsma, selected five finalists from all submissions from the Amsterdam knowledge and research institutes. The innovations and new technologies offer ground-breaking solutions for a wide range of social issues. On June 19 the winners of the Amsterdam Science & Innovation Award has been announced. This afternoon was dedicated to innovations and entrepreneurship.
Finals
The finalists pitched their idea to a professional jury and the public on Tuesday 19 June. The expert jury, consisting of representatives from industry and the Amsterdam knowledge institutes, has taken into account the innovativeness, feasibility and fulfillment of market needs.
The winner of edition 2019 was Wouter Potters & Jonathan Coutinho from Amsterdam UMC, locatie AMC with EEG controlled triage in the ambulance for acute ischemic stroke (ELECTRA-STROKE). The high potential award went to André Baart from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam with Kasadaka: a voice-service platform to bridge the digital divide.
The main prize was € 10.000 and the High Potential prize of € 5,000. With the prize, the researchers can further develop their idea.
